Vršič Pass

The Vršič Pass is an iconic, high mountain road, in Slovenia’s Julian Alps. This Vršič Pass design celebrates this serpentine route, which is the highest road pass in Slovenia and has 50 hairpin turns that wind up through the spikey mountain faces.

The wording reads ‘Vršič Pass’, ‘Julijske Alpe’ (Vršič Pass, Julian Alps). Vršič (pronounced ‘ver-shi-ch’) means ‘little peak’ in Slovenian, and was named after the nearby Mount Vršič.

The road through the pass rises above the town of Kranjska Gora and then descends into the beautiful Soča Valley.

The Vršič Pass is also home to Red Bull’s ‘Pony Goni’ event each year, where hundreds tackle the ascent and descent on vintage, single-speed, Slovene-made ‘Rog Pony’ bikes.
